Espresso cups
Up until 1992 all espresso coffee cups could only be purchased blank or with a company logo on them. It was then when the decision of Illy Caffe that they combine the art of coffee and commissioned Matteo Thun to help design their first espresso cup. The design is considered by the owner of Illy Caffe (Francesco Illy) to be the perfect cup, but its design is very simple. Now, with coffee connoisseurs around the world, this type of cups have become collectors' items.
In fact, for many when it comes to collecting espresso coffee cups is almost similar to collecting some art forms. The cups designed today each have their own artist to produce their own particular design and contain some of your own personal style within them. Today There are many upcoming artists who designed cup collections as a way to get to know and make their art available to the general public.
Today all the companies that produce such cups will have a special numbering system in place that allows them to limit the number that occur. Plus you also find that limit the time that these cups will be available prior to removal from the shelves and put in a completely new design. You will find that with each of the Illy collector cups and side dishes has been signed and numbered on the base.
Also inside the glass, you see that says "Illy Collection". However, these cups and saucers which are used in restaurants and therefore part of a single bar says "Illy Espresso" on them and not have a number of the firm. Vessels that are being produced are the FrancisFrancis! and Saeco. The FrancisFrancis! collections come with a number and a signature on them as collections Illy, while Saeco espresso cups coffee just signed on the base.
Each set of cups when purchased comes in a presentation box and some manufacturers may have also included coffee with them.
Today, because the espresso cups have become extremely popular taking over previous versions can be very difficult and very expensive. Indeed, as soon as any series of cups is no longer available to be presented through a point of sale, then the only way to get this through buying them from another collector. A set of espresso cups that a person could have Trazzine purchased in 1994 for $ 109 is now for sale by a collector for $ 700. So surely as you can see these vases are not just for drinking your espressos.
