The antique lamps and the question of value
An antique is not considered old until she had her 100th birthday. Is this centennial which gives the title of "old." However, not only the object's age is classified value.
For example, a little lamp Roman oil in original condition can be purchased for a very small but there was light in some provincial Roman pottery in the year 100 AD. The reason is that these small oil burning lamps, ceramics were made by the thousand, lamps of this style is the standard throughout the vast Roman Empire. Despite losses by breakage and damage in the last 2000 years, a large number are still available for a small price today.
Availability and condition are two important factors that influence the value of antique lighting, in fact, all art and antiques are subject to this rule.
Other influences are –
The aesthetic value, ie, "the appearance of the lamp"
The functional value as a light source
The value of courtesy to the interior
The rarity of the lamp
If they were produced by a famous manufacturer
The source of the lamp

Not generally understood is that the careful restoration of an antique lamp, can be, and above all it is a costly exercise, with input from thin metal turners, turners, sheet metal gold, water chlorinators, polishers, electricians etc.
