Special Fornasetti Plates for Valentines
Fornasetti s work fusion of Surrealism and Neo-Classicism, is enjoying a major revival, and plates of black, white and gold, representing portraits of the enigmatic, saucer eyes, alabaster skin of the 19th century beauty Lina Cavalieri, are a fascinating example of his work. Roughly translating as Variations on a theme, each piece of porcelain decorated with an image of a beautiful 19-century woman, Lina Cavalieri I had seen once in a magazine. This was pursued Fornasetti by her image that has created more than five hundred variations on her face. Some are more direct representations, other individual characteristics and some are very surreal in the mold.
Piero Fornasetti was given a scholarship in 1930 to study painting at the Accademia di Belle Milan Arti but was expelled in 1932. After that, Piero Fornasetti continued to paint in Milan and also dabbled in sculpture, crafts, and decoration interior. Piero Fornasetti was influenced by both Surrealism and pittura Metaphysics but developed a highly distinctive, eclectic style informed by his enthusiasm for Italy the great art of past. In the design of handicrafts, Piero Fornasetti was not limited to the Novecento motifs that were inspired by neoclassicism, but added first Renaissance ornament and representational motifs to the repertoire with which he embellished textiles, furniture, china plates, cups and similar objects. Piero Fornasetti's work showed in the 1933 Milan Triennale included painted silk scarves, which attracted the attention of designer Gio Ponti.
In subsequent years, Gio Ponti and Piero Fornasetti collaborated on numerous projects. In 1950, Gio Ponti and Piero Fornasetti designed the interior of the Casino of San Remo. In 1952, Ponti, Fornasetti created the memorable interiors large liner "Andrea Doria." For the "architecture" line of furniture designed by Gio Ponti and Piero Fornasetti created architectural motifs decoration. In 1951 Piero Fornasetti and Gio Ponti showed this furniture at the Milan Triennale. Piero Fornasetti also designed furniture itself, decorated with trompe-l'oeil paintings of musical instruments or large suns. The face of the woman who used to adorn the "Tema e Variazioni" series became ornament Piero Fornasetti signature. In 1970 Piero Fornasetti opened a shop in Milan, where fans of his designs playful, imaginative may still be gained.
