Porcelain, with many of the products of our day to day, was discovered in China more than thousand years during the Tang dynasty. That is why, in fact, in the West, we call "China" because that is where he comes!
The discovery porcelain in Europe, however, did not occur until the early 18 in the German electorate of the Prince of Saxony. The demand became a flood and large numbers began to be exported from China.
The wealthy classes sent orders for games through the captains of ships, which twelve months later, the service will be collected from southern China trade of the port of Canton. Many of these services were decorated with the family crest of wealthy clients.
They were produced for coffee and tea sets and full meal service and were known "arms" of services. Very few have survived, complete and in original condition. As pieces are lost and broken, so the demand for replacements developed.
Samson Edmé specialized in the reproduction of Chinese export porcelain style of the time it was fashionable for families aristocratic order your services and ways of southern China.
Edmé Samson, born in Paris in 1810, established the firm of Samson porcelain Edmé et Cie in the 1830's. Samson began his career by producing spare parts, but soon became obvious that his ability to play gave resulted in excellent original copies.
By the mid 19th century was Samson porcelain production in all forms and styles in the imitation of all major European factories as well as Japanese Imari and the famous Famille Rose Famille Vert styles produced in China between 1720 and 1790. In the 19th century Samson porcelain was considered as copies only, but now, copies of Samson are ancient, being over 100 years old.
