Four reasons for not using a Betta fish vase
Have you ever seen a vase betta fish? It is basically a large vase filled with water and perhaps a living plant. There are a number of good reasons why you should not put your Betta in one. This article takes a look at some of these reasons.
Space
The main reason you should not use one of these vessels is the lack of space. Although the designs are relatively large, most have not enough space to fish. Without enough room to swim freely and exercise, the Betta will be unhappy and less healthy.
Air
Did you know you betta have a special organ on top of your head? Called a labyrinth organ that allows fish to breathe oxygen from the air, as well of the receiving water. Betta fish vase with a large plant in can prevent your partner to get the air it needs. Without enough space to reach by air, he will die.
Plant
Even if you make the house your Betta in a vase, you should avoid putting a live plant there. A plant only take up more space, which is a problem with such a small amount to start. The plant also produces waste that will eventually cause health problems with your Betta.
A common plant found in a Betta fish vase is the peace lily. Some new owners believe that your Betta may eat the plant and survive for a while. However, these fish are meat eaters. Although the plant can bite from time to time, they need real food.
Water
Bettas are tropical fish, so like warmer temperatures. Do you think you could easily regulate the temperature of water in a vase betta fish? I think not. Furthermore, will get dirty water from waste produced by fish and the plant if there is there. The glass will be too small to have a filtration system, so you will to change the water frequently.
