Antique lighting – very rare century, mid-18, Table lamp French Loza
The French 18 th century saw the full flowering of the arts decorative and France led the rest of Europe in artistic expression and style. It was in the Marseille region, which saw the production of some of the most beautiful examples of French faience. "China" is the French name of tin glazed earthenware,
known by the Dutch and English as "Delft" and "Majolica" in Italy.
One of the most prominent of these factories was opened in 1740 by Claude Perrin (1696-1748) and when died in 1748 was his widow,
Madame Pierrette Candelot, who took over the management of production. This alone, in the middle of the 18th century was considered highly unusual.
Production flourished under his leadership, especially the quality of the painting of flowers. Lady with an excellent view Perrin enrolled her china painter in the French art academies to develop and refine the elegant style of flower painting that we see today. Painting on china was very difficult, the painter with the surface of glazed pottery in the canvas.
The French 18 th century was the century rococo painting flowers expressed in this beautiful style.
The style known as "floral Naturaliste le Grand Fleur" is a naturalist, but not a botanist, informal and yet with a sense of formality. Loose paint flower bouquets of summer flowers, sprays and small twigs, often with moths and butterflies ladybugs and caterpillars and is known to many painters took bunches of flowers on the way to work as models for the day.
Most parts produced are marked with the letters "VP" the initials of the French "Veuve Perrin" meaning widow Perrin. Mrs Perrin died in 1793 and continued production, although in decline until 1803.
The factory struggled through the violence of the French Revolution, which eventually saw the fall Rococo "Floral Deco."

These flowers Summer is 260 years old and still as fresh as the summer of 1750!
