Bjorn Wiinblad Object Vase
One of the starving artists in the line of Danish pottery is probably Bjorn Wiinblad. He is known throughout the world and has enjoyed a career that has spanned over 60 years. His talent is not limited to pottery and ceramics however, his art been shown in the book covers, glass, and a myriad of other creative means. His artistic creativity in addition to its versatility combined makes it virtually impossible classify. It is much like a jack-of-all-trades within the artistic community and yet remains very popular.
Danish ceramics, as Bjorn has Wiinblad many facets. Much of the pottery of Denmark matches the modernistic flare of the furniture that is created here too. The furniture, art, all of them form a relationship symbiotic in the home and most local artists are designing their products to local purchasing public. It is not that welcome tourists, but most provide tourists a one-time purchase. The home crowd is the bread and butter for these people and they are well aware of it. It only makes sense that their designs that reflect local culture and the idea that less is indeed sometimes more.
Outrageous Danish designer, Bjorn Wiinblad was known as 'designer' designer. His work is diverse and encompasses studio art pottery, glass, silver, posters and costume design. Rosenthal porcelain was the chief designer of the company for 35 years, but much of his early work was produced by the Danish company Nymolle. We are starting to pick up Wiinblad pieces for almost any porcelain / ceramic piece will do, as well as the many vintage posters and hand-signed prints, especially black and white line drawn type scenes as shown on the left.
In one of the most talked about installations, in Bjorn Wiinblad of gossip that has created another masterpiece capricious. The four smooth bronze sculptures of young ladies obviously in the middle of the idle chatter, or just turning your head away from him, emanating a twisting motion, a certain arrogance with the figures nose turned up and away from each other.
